Oya Yalvac, a partner at DERIS is one of the few Turkish professionals to have passed the European qualifying examination. She has worked in the pharmaceutical industry as an in-house patent attorney for more than 10 years and specialises in patent litigation – namely, infringement, invalidity actions and actions for declaration of non-infringement.

Ms Yalvac is also an adviser and expert for local R&D and innovation centres, as well as the technology transfer offices of Turkish universities.

Ms Yalvac has in-depth experience in patent oppositions and freedom-to-operate analyses. She has occasionally been appointed as a court expert for patent disputes before the Turkish IP courts.

Ms Yalvac has also been selected as Patent Strategy & Management Lawyer of the Year by the LMG Life Sciences Awards. She was selected from a global pool of nominees that work at law firms such as Allen & Overy, Reed Smith and Powell Gilbert.
